Announcing Robert Fucci, Editor of Master Drawings

MASTER DRAWINGS is pleased to announce that Robert Fucci has been appointed the new Editor of the journal, taking over from Jane Turner who retired last year after serving as the publication’s editor since mid-2004.

Rob is a specialist in seventeenth-century Dutch and Flemish art, especially works on paper, and a lecturer in art history at the University of Amsterdam. He is currently spearheading a project devoted to watermarks in papers used by Rembrandt and his circle which combines innovative technical art history with traditional connoisseurship. He recently catalogued the notable collection drawings assembled by Sheldon and Leena Peck, resulting in the exhibition “Drawn to Life: Master Drawings from the Age of Rembrandt in the Peck Collection at the Ackland Art Museum,” shown at the Ackland Art Museum, Chapel Hill, and the Rembrandt House Museum, Amsterdam in 2022-2023.

As a contributor to MASTER DRAWINGS, he wrote a study of the pioneering drawings of Dutch ruins by the landscape specialist, Jan van de Velde II, who was also the subject of his Ph.D. dissertation completed at Columbia University in 2018. Rob has thoughtfully curated exhibitions including “Rembrandt’s Changing Impressions at Columbia’s Wallach Art Gallery (2015),” and most recently, “Vermeer’s Love Letters” at the Frick Collection (2025).
