Master Drawings is thrilled to salute Alexander McCargar, this year’s winner of our Annual Ricciardi Prize! In “Copy or Coincidence? Pietro Righini and the Bibiena Legacy,” McCargar enriches the reader’s experience by applying his expertise in stage design to drawings, shedding new light on the influential role eighteenth-century scenographer Pietro Righini had on his contemporaries including the renowned stage designers of the Bibiena family.
