Master Drawings, vol. 60.1 Spring 2022

Master Drawings, Spring 2022

Join us in celebrating the launch of Master Drawings‘ Diamond Jubilee year with our special issue (Vol. 60, No. 1) honoring Clement C. (Chips) Moore. The entire issue focuses on a brilliant and unprecedented array of Dutch drawings, paying tribute to Moore’s interests as a collector and patron of the arts. More than twenty-five articles and notes by top scholars of Dutch draftsmanship appear in the issue.

In a fascinating essay, Robert Fucci discusses our cover image, “View of the Huis ter Kleef with Mountains” by Jan Van de Velde II, along with other early landscape drawings by the artist. Fucci, an art historian and a lecturer in the Department of Art History at the University of Amsterdam, highlights why these works contribute to our understanding of this important seventeenth-century artist.

Several articles examine works by Rembrandt, including previously undiscovered versos. New attributions are revealed for artists Ludolf de Jongh, Karel Dujardin, Johannes Leupenius, Jacques Callot, and Tethart Philipp Christian Haag.
