Promenades on Paper: Eighteenth-Century French Drawings from the Bibliothèque Nationale de France

Promenades on Paper: Eighteenth-Century French Drawings from the Bibliothèque Nationale de France, at our partner institution, the Clark Art Institute, brings together a selection of eighty-six studies, architectural plans, albums, sketchbooks, prints, and optical devices that explore our understanding of drawing as a tool of documentation and creation in the age of Enlightenment. Works by celebrated artists of the period, such as François Boucher and Gabriel de Saint-Aubin, are featured alongside drawings by lesser-known practitioners, including talented women, royal children, and visionary architects.  The exhibition is on view through March 12, 2023.
